Minke Whale
This is by far the friendliest whale in the world and every year hundreds of tourists leaving Cairns rave about this whale swimming right up to them!!! It is only recently that science became aware that these were a different species of whale to the slightly larger Southern Minke Whales. We thought that they were just very friendly small Southern Minke Whales with a white patch around their shoulder. Now DNA samples show them to be a totally new species and science has yet to give them a scientific name yet!
