Guided Diving / Snorkeling
Would you like to see and experience more out on the reef? How about fish and coral changing colour, cleaning stations in action or little Nemo hiding in an anemone? This course gives you the opportunity to dive (certified divers only) or snorkel the Great Barrier Reef with your own private marine biologist, and explore the reef in greater detail. We require a minimum of 2 people for Reef Naturalist – Guided Diving (certified divers only) / Snorkeling and prefer to limit groups to maximum of 4 people. However if you are traveling in a larger group or family we may be able to accommodate this. Reef Teach does not own a boat, but we work with other local boat operators to host these trips.
- Evening Reef Teach presentation the night before your trip
- 2 privately guided dives (certified divers only) or snorkels on the Great Barrier Reef
- Your own private Marine Biologist for the day
- Marine life briefings and de-briefings
- Access to marine field guides
- 2 reef locations
- Tropical buffet lunch
- Morning and afternoon tea
- Dive (certified divers only) or snorkel gear (including dive computers)
This program is designed and targeted to certified divers and moderate to experienced snorkelers only. The reason for this is that the aim of the program is to act as your marine biologist and not as a dive instructor or swimming instructor. Our crew are all trained in this avenue however they will not be able to fulfil their obligations to our customers as marine biologists if they are dedicated to your swimming ability.
As for introductory dives. These dives are limited by depth and time, regulations govern the way in which the dive instructor leads the dive. Although these dives are excellent to experience scuba diving for the first time plus to see the Great Barrier Reef they are not conducive to us acting as marine biologists showing you the detail and intricacies of the Great Barrier Reef.
Young children are welcome but again they most have strong swimming abilities.
